Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper and Payroll Specialist to join our team. In this vital role, you will manage comprehensive bookkeeping functions, oversee payroll processing, and ensure accurate financial record-keeping in compliance. This position will be part time to begin but full time will be available if this employee wants to assist with bidding (contacting subcontractors and acquiring supplier quotes). This is our only office position so if you prefer to work alone other than when the estimator and owner are in the office, this is a great position. Some work is capable of being done from home, but we would like you to be in the office 1-2 days a week minimum.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Handle new hire file building.
- Keep the office organized and stocked
- Process payroll efficiently by imputing hours into our payroll software and handle printing stubs and distributing them to employees.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking.
- Reconcile accounts on the balance sheet and perform general ledger account analysis to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with governmental accounting requirements when applicable.
- Support budgeting activities by tracking expenses against budgets and providing relevant reports.
- Conduct account reconciliation tasks, including debits & credits adjustments and general ledger reconciliation.
- Generate detailed financial reports and assist with financial report writing for internal use or external audits.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations by preparing necessary documentation and supporting tax experience requirements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Experience bookkeeping for a construction company is a plus
- Accounting experience is a plus
- Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, GAAP standards, and governmental accounting if applicable.
- Demonstrated knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account analysis, bank reconciliation, and account reconciliation processes.
- Experience with payroll processing including tax filings and benefits management.
- Ability to perform balance sheet reconciliation accurately and efficiently.
- Familiarity with accounts payable/receivable procedures and financial concepts such as debits & credits.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of budgeting processes and financial report writing techniques.

Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
