Job Summary
Vet technician for Animal Shelter:
Stroudsburg, PA The Veterinary Technician is an integral member of the Shelter, bringing their knowledge of animal care and nursing expertise to the team. The Technician will be responsible for performing daily rounds to ensure all animals are healthy and thriving, that all animals are up to date on all vaccines, preventatives & receive their daily medications if prescribed. Identifying ill animals, and getting them seen by our doctor's in a timely manner. Administering treatments under the guidance of the veterinarian, and communicating animal care instructions to staff & volunteers in our foster program. This position requires the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. This position requires previous experience as a veterinary technician or veterinary assistant, and has an interest in Shelter Medicine.

Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, and labs for shelter animals with precision and care
- Medicate, give vaccines, and treatments as directed
- Collect samples such as blood, urine, or tissue for laboratory testing and ensure proper handling and documentation
- Maintain accurate medical records, update patient histories, and document treatments thoroughly
- Educate adopters on post-treatment care, medication administration, and preventive health measures
Qualifications
- Proven experience assisting in veterinary clinical settings is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is essential
- Strong understanding of animal anatomy, physiology, and common medical procedures
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members
- Ability to handle animals gently yet confidently in high-pressure situations
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
