What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinic Lead position at Animal ER Care?
Animal ER Care, an AAHA-accredited emergency practice, is seeking a Clinic Lead to enhance our practice by providing on-shift support and leadership to our hospital team. This position will have a specific focus in the areas of hospital flow, nursing care, quality assurance, case management, team development and service excellence. This position is primarily M-F evenings with an occasional weekend shift.
The Clinic Lead position is for an accomplished individual with emergency and critical care skills, who is self-motivated, a quick thinker, organized, team-oriented, and has a heart to mentor others. Good communication skills and compassion are the most important. Must be proficient in all areas of emergency and critical care as well as anesthesia. A minimum of 2 years as a certified/registered Veterinary Technician.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primary trainer for new employees on patient care, clinic protocol, and workflows.
- Provide leadership to veterinary technicians, assistants, and front of house by acting as a role model, mentor, and assisting in performance management.
- In collaboration with the Clinic Managers, assist with implementing protocols and standards of care to consistently improve the overall quality of patient care delivered.
- Work an equivalent of full-time on the clinic floor.
- Support the leadership team in effective selection and hiring practices.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Manage staff shortages during your shifts.
- Assess patient / client experience.
- Maintain a Fear Free environment for our patients.
Physical Effort: Position requires solo lifting and carrying animals up to 50 pounds; when lifting or carrying patients heavier than 50 pounds two or more staff members is required. You must be able to stand for extended periods of time. Some patients may require restraint on the floor, therefore must be able to be in a bent position for a long period of time. Must be able to move swiftly during an emergency.
Working Conditions: May be exposed to physical harm such as bites, scratches, and contagious diseases; and will be exposed to unpleasant odors, noises, & animals.
