The Role: Outpatient Veterinary Assistant or TechnicianOur outpatient technicians and assistants play a vital front-line role in supporting patients as they enter and exit our emergency and specialty care hospital. This full-time position is best suited for someone who enjoys client interaction, patient care, and multi-tasking across departments.

✅ Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and assist with triage intake and patient history gathering
  • Safely handle and restrain dogs and cats of all temperaments for exams and diagnostics
  • Assist with outpatient treatments such as administering medications, SQ fluids, and routine blood draws
  • Support specialty services with appointment preparation, patient handoffs, and follow-up care
  • Provide discharge instructions and educate clients on at-home care, medications, and follow-up
  • Perform basic diagnostics (e.g., bloodwork prep, fecal/urinalysis sample collection, radiology support)
  • Maintain clean, stocked, and organized outpatient exam rooms and treatment areas
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in patient records and communication with doctors
  • Partner with doctors, technicians, and CSRs to ensure smooth appointment flow and excellent client service

🎯 Desired Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience in a veterinary setting (general practice, ER, or specialty preferred)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • LVMT preferred but not required; assistants with strong technical skills and growth mindset welcome
  • Comfortable in a client-facing role, with excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of restraint, patient handling, and outpatient care protocols
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Experience with veterinary software and EMR systems (e.g., eVet, Avimark, or similar) is a plus
