Animal Dentistry Specialists of Seattle is a veterinary-dentistry-only practice located in Renton, WA. We’re looking for a team-oriented, friendly and career-minded licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team. We are a privately-owned hospital that provides advanced dental care like root canals; advanced, tooth-saving, periodontal treatment; fracture repair; and oral tumor excision, as well as routine extractions and dental cleanings. We strive to provide the highest quality dental care to our patients, clients and referring veterinarians. Enjoy a four-day work week, with no weekends or on-call. Technicians interested in obtaining their VTS in dentistry highly encouraged to apply. We will support and help you in this challenge.

Veterinary Technician applicants must have the following qualifications to be considered for the position:

  • Current Washington State Veterinary Technician License.
  • A minimum of three years of veterinary anesthesia experience required including: anesthesia induction, maintenance, monitoring and recovery; endotracheal intubation; CRI and fluid administration.
  • Experience with mechanical ventilation is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of anesthesia machine usage, monitoring equipment (SPO2, ETCO2, ECG, and NIBP), and different anesthesia breathing circuits.
  • Ability to assist veterinarian with oral exams of small animal patients in a safe and compassionate manner.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and preparing/maintaining surgical instrumentation and equipment.
  • Some experience with taking dental radiographs and performing dental cleanings preferred, but happy to train the right person. (note that technicians *do not* perform extractions).
  • High level of focus on exceptional patient care and communication with clients and referring veterinarians.

You will help welcome owners and pets, take medical histories, assist the doctor with oral exams, provide client education on toothbrushing and appropriate dental products, prepare estimates and review them with clients, and draw blood for preanesthetic bloodwork. You will also set up for dental procedures, prepare patients for surgery including premedication, catheter placement, induction, and intubation, and will monitor anesthesia. You will review discharge instructions with clients. You will also perform cone beam CT scans, take intraoral radiographs (training will be provided as needed), perform dental cleanings, assist the doctor during procedures, maintain instruments, prepare prescriptions, prepare photos and radiographs to send to clients, and help team with clean up and pre- and post-op animal care.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $34.00 - $42.00 per hour
