What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plant Accountant position at Angstrom NA LLC?
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Manage the financial functions of the plant. Supervise Account Clerk. Responsible for all financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: including the following; other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for all month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including the preparation of financial statements.
- Maintain control of the General Ledger to assure accuracy of transactions and compliance with GAAP requirements. This includes preparing general ledger entries, performing monthly analysis of all balance sheet accounts, and completing all required account reconciliations (e.g., inventory, standard cost, and cost variance).
- Fixed Assets Accounting, including changes, depreciation schedules, and processing all additions (tracking the spend and related CAPEX) and disposal requests.
- Conduct detailed variance analysis (e.g., cost, scrap, labor, overhead) and provide clear explanations of significant deviations from plan.
- Complete in-depth financial and operational analysis of key indicators (e.g., part weights, cycle rates, scrap rates) to uncover opportunities for improvement and support better decision-making.
- Track Accounts Receivable (incl. Tariff recoveries), Accounts Payable, and Payroll GLs accurately such that the company's financial objectives are met.
- Responsible for the preparation of financial forecasts and projections
- Assist or test ERP improvements.
- Any other duties as deemed necessary or assigned by Management and Corporate.
- Support activities related to maintaining our ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 quality systems.
QUALIFICATIONS/CORE COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting
- Accounting/Professional Designation or equivalent (CMA, CPA, MBA, etc.)
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in progressive experience in accounting, with at least 3 years in manufacturing environment
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills, financial analysis, cost, general accounting and manufacturing accounting systems, standard cost accounting and budgeting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of Odyssey ERP and MRP systems
- Computer literate with advanced excel skills
- High-volume automotive experience considered an asset
