Job Summary:
The Volunteer Coordinator’s is a part time positon and the responsibilities include recruiting, screening and training volunteers, keeping a database of volunteer information, hours and skills, matching volunteers to opportunities that suit their skills, keeping volunteers informed and engaged, and conveying Angelwood’s Mission, Vision and Core Values to the public.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Outreach, recruitment, screening, scheduling and tracking hours of volunteers to support the work of Angelwood.
- Train volunteers to assure they know what is expected of them and how to carry out assigned tasks.
- Research and implement an effective system for online volunteer registration and sign up for work slots.
- Initiate and cultivate key relationships with volunteer – rich organizations and companies
- Seek best practice knowledge around volunteer administration through local resources and networking with other volunteer organizations
- Collaborate with Angelwood SPD and leadership staff to determine needs in programs.
- Coordinate schedules with program staff when bringing visitors to Angelwood programs.
- Assist program staff to learn how best to engage and utilize the volunteers so that there is mutual benefit for the time spent.
- Respond to group inquiries and assist with scheduling functions.
- Monitor volunteers for smooth start up and overall well-being for them and our program participants.
- Recruit, screen, schedule and track hours of volunteers to work on Angelwood Fund Raising events and committees.
- Develop system(s) to show volunteer appreciation. This may include thank you letters, cards from group homes, recognition opportunities.
- Collaborate with Angelwood Senior Staff to develop and manage a volunteer outreach plan that includes but is not limited to: a volunteer calendar for regular program workdays, student interns, summer camp, fund raising events, etc.
- Plan, implement and lead group workday events
- Communicate with local colleges and universities to establish relationships for student field experience in our programs.
- Create media releases in collaboration with CDO to include but not limited to submissions for social media, newsletter articles, etc.
- Coordinate, implement and supervise all aspects of Volunteer activities for Angelwood.
- Document volunteer activities with photos and upload to Angelwood shared drive. Assure that photo releases are up to date for each person utilizing our services before pictures are taken.
- Attend fund raising events where at least 5 volunteers are present to coordinate their activities and support their efforts. Coordinate the involvement where possible of Angelwood program participants.
- Speak publicly about Angelwood and be able to answer questions related to programs.
- Represent Angelwood when invited to community/church/civic events or other community awareness opportunities.
- Attend staff meetings as needed.
- Maintain proper financial records of expenditures and inform financial department of upcoming expenses.
- Follow Angelwood protocols for payroll hours submission.
- Orient students doing field experience or internships to Angelwood then introduce them to the program staff person who will oversee their ongoing time in programs.
- Screen, supervise and submit appropriate paperwork for individuals who need to complete court ordered volunteer hours.
- Understand Angelwood safety policies and actively promote safe practices in the workplace.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or 2 years’ experience in the area of volunteer management or related field
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Have a valid Florida Driver’s license (or by home state if Military Family)
- Pass Level 2 Background screening
