Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Aide to join our team. Although we are based in Columbia, we work with clients all over South Carolina. We also encourage employees to bring in their own clients and family members that may need care. In this role, you will provide essential support to individuals in assisted living environments, ensuring their comfort and well-being. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to resident rights and demonstrate the ability to assist with daily living activities while fostering a positive and nurturing atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with personal care tasks, including bathing, grooming, and dressing.
- Support meal preparation and ensure residents receive proper nutrition.
- Perform patient observation to monitor health status and report any changes to the healthcare team.
- Help with heavy lifting as needed for mobility assistance or repositioning of residents.
- Implement care plans tailored to individual resident needs, ensuring adherence to prescribed guidelines.
- Promote resident rights by respecting privacy and dignity at all times.
- Engage residents in social activities to enhance their quality of life and emotional well-being.
- Work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities, providing tailored support as required.
Requirements
- Previous experience in patient care or assisted living environments is preferred.
- Knowledge of resident rights and the ability to advocate for them effectively.
- Strong skills in patient observation and the ability to recognize changes in health status.
- Experience with meal preparation and understanding of nutritional needs for various populations.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary, ensuring safety for both the aide and the resident.
- Familiarity with care plans and the ability to follow them accurately is essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a focus on building trusting relationships with residents and their families.
