The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant is responsible for direct services with children, adolescents and their families including but not limited to evaluation/assessment; medication therapies and medical management; parent/consumer education; record keeping; collaboration with other professionals, team members as well as related community services as appropriate.
Duties and Essential Job Functions:
- Evaluate and manage clients through direct care encounters as needed. Direct care encounters may include prescription and management of medication, order and interpretation of labs, order of consultations or referrals, and education to clients and families.
- Develop, implement and monitor plans of care
- Update treatment plans regularly
- Timely completion of documentation according to established standards.
- Collaborate with the behavior health team and other providers regarding shared cases
- Assist with providing cross-coverage medical and behavior health team cases
- Assist with evaluations and assessment documentation as appropriate
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in nursing from an accredited institution with a concentration in a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner/ PA program
- Licensed as a nurse practitioner in the state of Florida
- Current DEA license- Strong ADHD, ADD, depression/anxiety diagnosis and treatment experience
- Minimum two years’ experience working with children and adolescents preferred.
- Knowledge of diagnosis and treatment of mental health disorders. Advanced study of mental health assessment. Knowledge of regulations and laws relating to clinical psychology practice.
- Ability to work sensitively with variety of personalities.
- Knowledge of community mental health service delivery systems and other resources.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with families, colleagues (e.g. physicians, psychologists, social workers, and other team members), community agencies, etc.
- Understanding of principles of legal documentation and medical records release of information.
- Working knowledge of basic computer software programs: MS Office and EMR.
