What are the responsibilities and job description for the Anesthesia Technician position at Anesthesiology Consultants Exchange, P.C. (ACE)?
The Anesthesia Technician provides indirect care to surgical patients under the supervision of anesthesiologists, CRNAs, APNs, RNs, and the Anesthesia Technician Manager. This role supports anesthesia providers by preparing and maintaining equipment, supplies, and workspaces to ensure safe and efficient anesthesia delivery.
General Responsibilities & Duties
- Assist anesthesiologists and CRNAs in operating rooms and anesthesia work areas.
- Perform room turnovers promptly after each case.
- Test new breathing circuits for leaks and ensure anesthesia machines meet safety standards.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces, cables, and equipment using proper methods.
- Maintain inventory of medical supplies within anesthesia workspaces, including Omnicell, anesthesia machines, and cabinets.
- Restock and organize anesthesia workroom supplies.
- Retrieve special anesthesia supplies as requested before and during surgery.
- Collaborate with Biomedical and Clinical Engineering for equipment issues.
- Check expiration dates and remove expired supplies during downtime.
- Communicate professionally and use proper phone etiquette.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of one of the following: Certified Nurse Aide, Emergency Medical Technician, Medical Assistant, or higher-level education through an accredited health education program.
- OR completion of an anesthesia technician training program in the armed forces or accredited hospital.
- Goal: Certified Anesthesia Technician or Technologist.
Licenses/Certifications
BLS or CPR certification required.
