Position Summary:
The Total Joint Navigator Assistant plays a vital support role within the Total Joint Program, working under the direction of the Total Joint Manager to ensure smooth execution of daily workflows. This position focuses on patient education reinforcement, scheduling coordination, administrative support, and data management. While not a formal leadership role, the assistant contributes meaningfully to patient experience and program efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Education & Support
Lead or assist in preoperative joint education classes as needed
Provide educational materials and reinforce instructions during joint classes
Answer basic patient questions and refer complex inquiries to clinical staff
Assist in updating patient education materials and implementing program changes as directed
Scheduling & Communication
Assist with patient scheduling and follow-up calls
Relay patient concerns to the Total Joint Manager or clinical team
Support coordination of pre-op and discharge processes for total joint patients
Serve as pre-op and discharge nurse for joint patients as directed
Administrative & Program Support
Prepare meeting agendas, take notes, and maintain action item lists
Collect, enter, and organize data for surveys, reports, and compliance documentation
Draft summary reports for review by the Total Joint Manager
Maintain accurate records to support regulatory and accreditation compliance
Execute tasks as assigned with limited independent decision-making authority
Qualifications:
RN, BSN preferred
Extensive experience in orthopedic care strongly preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment
Proficient in data entry and basic reporting
Comfortable leading patient education sessions and reinforcing clinical instructions
Familiarity with surgical workflows and patient discharge processes
