Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs like blood pressure, pulse, and temperature regularly
- Administer medications accurately following care plans and HIPAA confidentiality standards
- Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring proper nutrition intake
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts to ensure safe transfers and mobility assistance
- Observe and document patient conditions, behavior changes, or incidents to inform care strategies
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks in accordance with health standards
- Implement personalized care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, including dementia or Alzheimer’s care
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
- Follow all safety protocols including CPR, first aid procedures, and emergency response procedures
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
- Knowledge of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease care techniques and memory care strategies
- Experience with medication administration and patient monitoring required
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and maintaining confidentiality of patient information necessary
- Hands-on experience using lifts such as Hoyer lift for resident transfers is advantageous
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with team members, residents, families, and healthcare professionals
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when assisting residents with mobility needs
