Description
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning with support from the Executive Director of Special Services, and in collaboration with central office administration and building principals, the Social Work and Student Supports Program Coordinator will advance a shared mental health vision and principles aligned with the district mission and core values.
Responsibilities
Social Work
Lead, implement, supervise, and evaluate school social work services district-wide in grades PreK-12.
Facilitate meetings and professional development with social work staff in order to support faculty and student social, emotional, and behavioral needs district-wide.
Work with the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning, the Executive Director of Special Services, and principals to establish goals and objectives for each school year in social work services.
Provide training and technical assistance to district leaders and school staff in the areas of interpretation of assessments results, data analysis, and performance improvement pertaining to student mental health and implementations for social work services.
Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning with support from the Executive Director of Special Services, assumes responsibility for general supervision of assigned areas and is accountable for results in terms of departmental achievement, differentiated teaching methods, multi-tiered systems of support, staff utilization, and cost effectiveness.
Student Supports and Accountability
Support school administration in instances of school-based crisis intervention and crisis teams.
Support PreK-5 social and emotional initiatives in collaboration with 6-12 Guidance Program Coordinator and Central Office administration.
Works in collaboration with the Guidance and Student Supports Program Coordinators and the Clinical Director in supporting district-wide goals for preK-12 mental health.
Oversee the district Bullying Prevention and Intervention Plan implementation.
Serve as Title IX Sexual Harassment Coordinator for students with guidance and support from the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning and the Executive Director for Special Services.
Analyze periodic district-wide discipline data and support schools in school-level discipline analysis.
Support school and district administration with required state accountability and reporting measures as determined by the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning and the Executive Director for Special Services.
Monitor student attendance district-wide, analyze and report on student attendance data, support school-level attendance improvement plans.
Serve as the district McKinney-Vento Homeless Liaison.
Collaborate with district, community, and outside agencies to ensure that mental health, social and financial resources, and support are provided to students, families, and schools.
With guidance from the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning and support from the Executive Director of Special Services, act as the district 504 Coordinator, chair initial meetings, oversee plans, communicate with families and staff members, and train staff in regard to updated American Disability Act regulations. Oversee the Section 504 process and plan development including coordination and training.
Supervision and Evaluation
Supervise pre-professional and professional status social workers district-wide.
Evaluate social worker performance district-wide.
Staff Development
Coordinate with the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning and the Executive Director of Special Services to provide district-wide professional development on such topics as social work therapeutic strategies, sexual harassment, anti-bullying, discrimination, suicide prevention, mandated reporting, crisis intervention, 51A reporting, and 504 accommodations.
Provide consultant social work and teacher services regarding instructional strategies for classroom teachers.
Participate in the Andover New Teacher Induction and Mentor Program?
Provide and facilitate staff development opportunities for social workers and teachers both during and after school hours.
Keep abreast of current trends in social work and support services through memberships in and attendance at various professional organizations and institutes. Responsible for reading and disseminating pertinent information to faculty members relative to social work and student supports.
Administration
Serve as a member of school and level-based leadership teams, as needed.
Assist in determining qualifications for social work positions, screening applicants for such positions, and recommending candidates to building principals for interviews. Participate in interviewing, selecting, and assigning new social workers.
Make recommendations to the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning and the Executive Director of Special Services and principals regarding personnel within the program area.
Prepare and justify budget recommendations for the social work department for the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning with support from the Executive Director of Special Services.
Report to the community at large concerning programs by means of presentations to parent and civic groups, newspaper releases, and school committee reports as required.
Support implementation and professional development required for curriculum resource adoption and coordinate purchasing needs as needed.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning with support from the Executive Director of Special Services.

Qualifications
Qualifications
- Masters Degree in Social Work (MSW).
- Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW).
- Massachusetts Certification as Supervisor/Director.
- Minimum of five years' experience in an adjustment counselor or social worker role.
- Minimum of five years' experience in a supervisory role in a public educational setting.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Capacity to work in a collegial setting and to set high academic and instructional expectations.
