Senior Python Data Engineer, Energy and Commodities
This role supports a global energy and commodities organization that operates at massive scale, combining trading, analytics, and long term infrastructure investment. This is a full time, on site position based in Houston, Texas, with in office collaboration required five days per week.

What You Will Be Working On
- Building modular, reusable Python components that connect external data sources with internal tools and databases.
- Partnering with business stakeholders to define requirements for data ingestion, transformation, and access.
- Translating business needs into well designed technical solutions.
- Maintaining a clean, centralized Python codebase while aligning with established design patterns and conventions.
- Contributing to shared developer tooling and internal Python based ETL frameworks.
- Collaborating efficiently with a distributed global engineering team.
- Participating in an internal Python development community and supporting evolving business initiatives.
- Seven or more years of professional experience developing Python applications in an enterprise environment.
- A degree in computer science, information systems, or a closely related discipline.
- Hands on experience designing and building data pipelines and data engineering solutions.
- Experience extracting data from external sources using web scraping techniques and automation tools.
- Strong experience with relational databases, including Oracle and PL SQL development with stored procedures.
- A solid understanding of object oriented programming, design patterns, and service oriented architectures.
- Previous experience working in Agile or Scrum based development teams.
- Proficiency with version control, peer code reviews, and issue tracking workflows.
- Working knowledge of data analysis libraries such as Pandas and NumPy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Background in the energy or commodities sector is preferred.
- Exposure to containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes is a plus.
