Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic - Morgantown, West Virginia based

HEAVY EQUIPMENT FIELD MECHANIC - MORGANTOWN, WEST VIRGINIA BASED

This individual will be responsible for working in an outdoor environment repairing and maintaining construction equipment.

Training:

· High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred, but not required
· Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and electrical assemblies and testing experience.

Position Prerequisites:

·CDL strongly preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of field service or mechanic experience.
· Strong troubleshooting abilities a plus.
· Detail Oriented.
· Capable of reading variable schematic logic for both low / high voltage electrical and a variety of hydraulics.
· Basic computer skills.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• This individual will be responsible for working in an outdoor environment repairing and maintaining construction equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment – electrical, hydraulic, diesel and mechanical.
• Provide training and technical knowledge on full range of equipment.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance activities on equipment.
• Provide clear work order documentation and reports when needed.
• Ensure compliance in all company, safety, health, and environmental regulations, policies and procedures for a goal of zero incidents and injuries.
• Overall responsibility for keeping all machines running efficiently.
• Stay in constant contact with the Fleet Manager and order parts as needed and as frequently as required to keep crews up to optimal performance.
• Perform all repairs as necessary both emergency and permanent repairs on a daily basis.
• Maintain a set of tools required to perform the work.
• Report to the Fleet Manager every night on the needs for the following day.
• Provide support as needed to move equipment from jobsite to Jobsite.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Evaluate and make recommendations regarding required repairs.
• Provide a high level of communication with Fleet Manager and supervisory staff.

Requirements & Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years of field service or mechanic experience.

Must have experience with troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining heavy equipment.

You must have your own basic mechanic's tools.

Able to operate company vehicle.

Prior work experience in an outdoor setting including excessive heat and cold.

Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, life vest, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.

Walking, stepping, climbing or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, and normally involves physically getting into and out of equipment through the use of vertical mounted ladders up to and including 10’ or more in height

Visually see equipment operations well (either naturally or with corrective lenses)

standing, stooping kneeling, squatting, climbing or sitting for long periods of time

Repetitive movements by feet, shoulders, arms, wrists, hands and back in performance of work

Working at elevated heights

Lifting 50 lb. objects as required

Carrying 50 lb. objects as required

Ability to work more than 40 hours in any given week including weekend assignments and holidays as required.
