Job Overview
The FSS for the FAYS Program works under the supervision of the FAYS Program Director. The FSS provides intake and assessment, counseling, skills-based training, crisis intervention, and linking services to all clients. The FSS documents all therapeutic activities, and assists the Program Director in any program-related duties, as assigned.
The FSS is available to make home visits in the two-county area. The FSS is available for service provision weeknights to 9:00 p.m. and will be assigned on-call duties. This position is responsible for coordinating all activities funded by the grant, including outreach, community collaboration, and presentations to the community and school. Some services will be provided in family homes or community-based locations, as well as in offices.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience: The person in this position must have a bachelor's degree and at least one year's experience with youth or families. An additional year of experience may be substituted for each year short of the four years normally required to secure a bachelor's degree of college. Preference will be given to the person who is fluent in Spanish as well as English, or who represents a minority population. Skills are required therapeutic interventions, public speaking, writing, and organization. Knowledge is needed in the area of therapeutic youth services. A vehicle will be needed for travel. Mileage will be reimbursed.
Functions and Tasks:
The FSS will work full time and will devote best effort to the interest of the FAYS Program and its staff and participants.
Functions: Family Support Specialist services to FAYS Program participants.
Task: Provide crisis intervention service to participants.
Task: Complete assessments and action plans for/with youth and families. Task: Provide therapeutic leadership, counseling, and skills training to youth/families.
Task: Document contacts, according to FAYS Program and ACCESS guidelines. Task: Provide follow-up services, as needed, to participants.
Function: Services to FAYS & Universal Prevention Program.
Task: Participate in training related to the services implemented in the program. Task: Assist in data collection/analysis and program review/evaluation.
Task: Provide presentations to the community, as requested by Program Director. Task: Assist Program Director to carry out program elements.
