Anderson Health Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Director to lead the clinical and operational oversight of our residential behavioral health programs serving adolescents with complex emotional, behavioral, and trauma-related needs. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centered, and trauma-informed services while fostering a culture of compassion, accountability, clinical excellence, and continuous improvement.

Position Summary

The Clinical Director provides strategic leadership and clinical oversight for residential treatment services and is responsible for ensuring effective program operations, regulatory compliance, staff development, and clinical quality. This position works closely with multidisciplinary treatment teams to ensure services are delivered in accordance with agency standards, state regulations, evidence-based practices, and organizational values.

Essential Responsibilities

The Clinical Director will:

  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for residential treatment operations and clinical programming.

  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed, person-centered behavioral health services.

  • Develop, implement, and evaluate programs that support positive outcomes for adolescents and families.

  • Foster a positive, engaging, and emotionally safe environment that promotes healing and growth.

  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and develop clinical and program staff.

  • Establish performance expectations and conduct ongoing performance management and evaluations.

  • Support staff development through training, coaching, and professional growth opportunities.

  • Ensure treatment planning, progress documentation, clinical records, and significant events are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, direct care staff, families, and community partners to coordinate care.

  • Monitor program quality, service outcomes, and performance improvement initiatives.

  • Lead efforts to maintain compliance with all applicable federal, state, licensing, Medicaid, and accreditation standards.

  • Support a culture of safety through effective crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, and risk management practices.

  • Address employee concerns and assist in resolving workplace issues in a professional and collaborative manner.

  • Participate in strategic planning, program development, and continuous quality improvement activities.

  • Model professionalism, empathy, integrity, emotional intelligence, and effective leadership at all times.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Human Services, or a related behavioral health field preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related human services field may be considered based on experience and qualifications.

Experience

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working with adolescents ages 12-17 in a behavioral health, residential treatment, child welfare, or related setting.

  • Previous supervisory, management, or leadership experience preferred.

  • Experience with trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and multidisciplinary treatment team collaboration preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong leadership and team development skills.

  • Knowledge of behavioral health treatment principles and best practices.

  • Understanding of regulatory, licensing, and accreditation requirements.

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to build relationships with clients, families, staff, and community stakeholders.

  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict resolution abilities.

  • Demonstrated ability to remain calm and effective in crisis situations.

Additional Requirements

  • Valid North Carolina driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

  • Demonstrated emotional maturity, professionalism, and effective self-regulation skills.
