Role Overview
- Provide comprehensive outpatient evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of sleep disorders in adult and pediatric populations
- Manage a broad spectrum of conditions including obstructive sleep apnea, insomnia, hypersomnia, parasomnias, circadian rhythm disorders, and restless legs syndrome
- Interpret and report sleep studies including polysomnography (PSG), CPAP/BiPAP titrations, HSATs, MSLTs, and MWTs in accordance with American Academy of Sleep Medicine guidelines
- Coordinate care for patients with comorbid conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and chronic pulmonary disorders
- Order and review diagnostic testing and clearly communicate results, treatment plans, and follow-up care
- Educate patients on sleep hygiene, PAP therapy, behavioral interventions, and long-term sleep health strategies
- Collaborate closely with the Medical Director, advanced practice providers, sleep technologists, and administrative staff
- Provide clinical oversight and mentorship to nurse practitioners and physician assistants as appropriate
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with clinical and documentation standards
- Support continuity of care and timely follow-up across multiple clinic locations
Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school
- Board Certified in Sleep Medicine (ABSM or equivalent)
- Eligible for or currently licensed to practice in Alaska
- Demonstrated expertise in interpreting sleep studies per AASM standards
- Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to patient-centered care
- Background in pulmonary medicine, neurology, psychiatry, or internal medicine preferred
Schedule
- Flexible 8- or 10-hour shifts
