About the Team
As part of Fairbanks Mobile Crisis Team (MCT), Peer Support Specialists respond as part of a Peer & Clinician team to individuals in crisis across the Fairbanks North-Star Borough community through dispatched 911 events. In collaboration with Law Enforcement and intra-agency dispatch centers, MCT Peer Support Specialists work under the direction of the Clinician and Clinical Team Manager to engage individuals in crisis and post-crisis services to promote strengths-based stabilization through: advocacy, resiliency building, coping and regulation skill modeling, and meeting individuals where they are at.
What You’ll Do
- Act as a role model to persons in crisis to inspire hope, share lived experiences, and promote lessons learned as a person in recovery.
- Identify strengths and natural supports and promote engagement with these toward supporting recovery and person-first care.
- Responsible for accurately documenting all activities in the Electronic Health Record by end of shift.
- Perform assigned follow-ups with individuals involved with MCT under the recommendation of the MCT clinician.
- Participate in the 24 hour on-call rotation, with ability for regular assigned days.

- Full-Time, Non-Exempt.
- Compensation includes a $350 per 24-hour shift base rate plus $25.00 per hour for all hours worked while clocked in.

What We Need from You
- You are willing to become Peer Certified as part of your initial onboarding.
- Must achieve certification as a Peer Support Specialist I within 6 months of hire.
- Preference for individuals who have already achieved a Peer Support Specialist certification.
- You have a high school diploma or GED
- You have personal life experience in recovery from mental illness, or substance abuse and/or co-occurring disorders and are comfortable sharing your personal life experiences surrounding recovery in a way that offers support to those you will serve
