Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct detailed account reconciliations, including general ledger, bank statements, and subsidiary ledgers such as accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Manage journal entries, accruals, and adjustments to ensure accurate financial data recording.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including balance sheet reconciliation and financial report writing.
- Assist with internal controls related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance and participate in audits to verify adherence to regulatory standards.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments.
- Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis activities to support strategic decision-making.
- Utilize accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar tools for efficient financial management.
- Support non-profit accounting practices including LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) compliance if applicable.
- Mentor junior team members by sharing technical accounting knowledge and fostering professional development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification is preferred.
- Proven experience in corporate accounting, governmental accounting or public accounting environments.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, technical accounting concepts, and double-entry bookkeeping principles.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements including SOX compliance and securities law where applicable.
- Knowledge of financial concepts such as cash flow analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial statement interpretation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis and report generation; experience with other financial software is advantageous.
- Excellent analytical skills with keen attention to detail; ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
