Job Title: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU) to provide specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia. The PACU nurse will be responsible for observing and monitoring patients for any adverse reactions to anesthesia while ensuring that the patient's vital signs are stable. The ideal candidate should be able to remain calm under pressure and have excellent critical thinking, communication, and teamwork skills.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Monitor patients in the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) for stability and safety
- Assess the patient's condition and vital signs
- Administer prescribed medication and treatment to manage post anesthesia effects
- Evaluate the patient's response to treatment and adjust the care plan as needed
- Provide emotional support to patients and their families
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality care
- Maintain clean and orderly patient records
- Educate patients and their families about post-anesthesia care and discharge instructions
Qualifications and Skills:
- Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) in Vermont
- Minimum of 2-year nursing experience in PACU or similar environment
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Knowledge of post-anesthesia care and treatment
- Ability to communicate effectively and work cohesively as part of a team
