Job Description
Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room / Circulator
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Operating Room (OR) / Circulating Registered Nurse (RN) to join our surgical services team. The Circulating RN plays a vital role in ensuring patient safety and supporting the surgical team before, during, and after operative procedures. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and manage all nursing activities within the operating room.
Prepare the OR by ensuring all necessary surgical equipment and supplies are available and sterile.
Verify patient identity, surgical procedure, and consent prior to surgery.
Monitor patient safety, comfort, and vital signs throughout the procedure.
Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and scrub nurses to ensure smooth workflow.
Maintain accurate documentation of surgical procedures, equipment, and patient data.
Enforce infection control policies and ensure sterile field maintenance.
Provide emotional support and education to patients and families pre- and post-operatively.
Participate in continuous education and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
BSN preferred, ADN accepted with relevant OR experience.
BLS and ACLS certifications required.
Minimum 1–2 years of OR nursing experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of aseptic technique, surgical procedures, and OR safety protocols.
Excellent organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
Work Environment:
Hospital or surgical center setting.
Fast-paced, high-acuity operating room environment.
May require on-call, evening, weekend, or holiday shifts.
