Job Title: Histotechnologist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Histotechnologist to join our laboratory team. The Histotechnologist will be responsible for preparing and processing tissue samples for microscopic examination by a pathologist. This individual will play a crucial role in the accurate diagnosis and treatment of patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Embed tissue samples in paraffin blocks for slicing
2. Cut thin sections of tissue samples using a microtome
3. Stain tissue samples with various dyes to enhance visualization
4. Perform special stains and immunohistochemical tests as needed
5. Mount stained tissue samples onto glass slides for examination
6. Maintain accurate records of all procedures performed
7. Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of laboratory equipment
8. Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a related field
2. Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) preferred
3. Prior experience working in a histology laboratory
4. Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
5. Excellent organizational and time management skills
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
7. Knowledge of relevant laboratory procedures and protocols
