Job Description

Job title: Emergency Room Nurse

Job Summary: The Emergency Room Nurse provides care for patients in emergency situations, triaging and assessing their conditions, providing immediate medical treatment, and coordinating care with other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Triage and assess patients upon arrival to determine urgency of care needed.

2. Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as ordered by physicians.

3. Monitor patients' vital signs and response to treatment.

4. Collaborate with other healthcare team members to ensure timely and appropriate care.

5. Educate patients and their families on their conditions and treatment plans.

6. Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.

7. Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures related to emergency care.

8. Assist in implementing emergency response protocols during mass casualty incidents.

9. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and families during stressful situations.

10. Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current with best practices in emergency care.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Active RN license in the state of practice.

2. BLS and ACLS certification.

3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in an emergency room setting.

4. Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills.

5. Ability to work efficiently in high-pressure situations.

6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

7. Knowledge of emergency medical procedures and equipment.

8. Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

9. Willingness to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

10. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
