Job Description
Job Title: Emergency Department Nurse (ED RN) - Montrose, CO
Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Emergency Department Nurse to provide age-appropriate nursing care to patients in the emergency department. The ideal candidate will be able to function independently or as part of a team, possess advanced assessment and triage skills, and be able to prioritize patient care. As a member of the healthcare team, the Emergency Department Nurse will provide quality nursing care and emotional support to patients, their families, and the community in times of crisis.
Essential Functions: a) Conduct triage assessments on all patients entering the Emergency Department and prioritize patient care. b) Anticipate potential changes in patient conditions based on chief complaint, nursing assessment, and response to therapy. c) Accurately and completely document patient records in the Emergency Department. d) Serve as a resource person for ancillary nursing departments, staff, and physicians. e) Possess advanced skills in technical procedures such as IV therapy, trauma resuscitation, medical resuscitation, arterial lines, and fluid warming. f) Communicate effectively with physicians, co-workers, and patients.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds and transfer patients weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods, possess fine motor skills, and have visual acuity.
Qualifications and Skills: a) Graduation from an accredited nursing program with a Bachelor's, Associate's, or Diploma in Nursing. b) BCLS certification required upon hire. ACLS and PALS or ENPC required within 9 months of hire. TNCC within one year of hire. Previous Emergency Department experience preferred. c) Competencies in triage, 12-lead ECG, age-specific, and latex allergy/sensitivity.
