Groundskeeper Technician

Position Summary
 The Groundskeeper Technician is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of the property grounds and common areas. This position plays a key role in creating a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff while supporting the organization’s mission of providing safe, affordable housing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Groundskeeping 

• Remove trash, debris, and abandoned items from exterior areas, parking lots, sidewalks, driveways, and all property grounds.
• Clear vacant units and surrounding grounds of furniture, trash, debris, and any other discarded items.
• Monitor grounds, parking areas, and walkways for safety hazards (e.g., ice, spills, broken glass, or tripping risks) and report concerns to supervisor immediately.
• Assist with light exterior maintenance tasks as needed, such as minor repairs or touch-ups.
• Clean and maintain all interior common areas, including hallways, entryways, laundry rooms, offices, community rooms, and other shared spaces.
• Maintain trees, shrubs, and other vegetation
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and sanitize floors, surfaces, fixtures, doors, and windows as required.
• Empty trash receptacles throughout the property, replace liners, and ensure proper disposal.
• Clean glass doors, windows, mirrors, and other fixtures in common areas.
• Restock and maintain cleaning supplies; promptly notify supervisor when inventory needs replenishing.

General Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals and equipment
• Respond to work orders or special cleaning requests as assigned
• Maintain positive, respectful interactions with residents, staff, and vendors
• Report maintenance issues, vandalism, or lease violations observed during duties
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Valid Driver’s License 
• Prior experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or groundskeeping work preferred
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Basic knowledge of cleaning methods, tools, and equipment
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Ability to operate basic cleaning and groundskeeping equipment safely

Work Environment

This position involves regular exposure to cleaning chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, and physical labor. Proper safety equipment and training are provided.
