Job Description
AEI is seeking a responsible, hands-on technician to work on engine aftertreatment components and systems, as well as supporting engine dynamometer test cells. This job is NOT assembly-line type work. Good mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to fabricate and construct prototype systems are essential. Initial job duties will focus on assembling, modifying, and installing exhaust and aftertreatment systems , along with constructing intake, exhaust, and cooling systems for test cells. This environment is fast-paced, requiring a drive to meet high expectations and manage a wide variety of responsibilities.
We are willing to train candidates who bring basic mechanical skills and a strong willingness to learn.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Hands-on technician with a solid understanding of engines, exhaust, and aftertreatment systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude to service, modify, and integrate aftertreatment components and supporting engine systems.
- Perform system setups both on dedicated test benches/rigs and integrated directly within engine test cells.
- Install test engines and aftertreatment hardware at test setup/start-up, and handle teardown upon test completion.
- Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble engine and aftertreatment components for post-test analysis.
- Conduct routine maintenance on test cell facility equipment and instrumentation.
- Assist in purchasing repair parts, hardware, and supplies, while keeping clear records and maintaining equipment catalogs.
- Communicate efficiently and professionally with project engineers and customers.
Qualifications and Skills
- Experience or familiarity with engines or powertrain components across gas, diesel, hybrid, or electric platforms.
- Interest or baseline experience with exhaust systems, emissions control, or aftertreatment hardware is helpful.
- Welding, tube bending, or light fabrication skills are a major plus.
- Entry to Mid-level position. Some prior hands-on experience is preferred.

- Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
