What are the responsibilities and job description for the Technician Apprentice position at Analytical Engineering, Inc?
AEI is seeking a responsible, hands-on Technician Apprentice to train and work in engine dyno test cells. This job is NOT assembly-line type work. Good mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn how to construct prototype systems are key.
As an apprentice, your initial job duties will focus on learning and assisting with the construction of intake, exhaust, and cooling systems for engine dynamometer test cells. This environment is fast-paced, and we are looking for someone with a strong desire to learn, meet high expectations, and tackle a wide variety of responsibilities as they grow into the role.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Learn and apply hands-on technician skills with guidance from experienced team members.
- Develop a strong understanding of engines and their supporting systems.
- Work and adapt within a fast-paced research and development environment.
- Assist in installing engines at startup and tearing them down upon test completion.
- Participate in routine maintenance of the test cell facility.
- Disassemble and assemble machines and components under supervision.
- Assist in purchasing repair parts/supplies and maintaining necessary catalogs/records.
- Communicate efficiently and professionally with customers, mentors, and supervisors.
Qualifications and Skills
- A passion for engines—we welcome applicants with an interest or background in gas, diesel, hybrid, or electric systems.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn.
- Welding skills are a plus, but not required.
- Apprentice / Entry Level: Prior experience, certifications, or degrees are helpful, but not required. We are ready to train the right candidate!
- Good communication skills and a strong work ethic.

- Job Type: Full-time
- Hours: Normal schedule, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
