About the Associate Position:
As an Associate, you will conduct empirical research in economics and finance, with specific focus areas such as price theory, financial modeling, industrial organization, labor and health economics, accounting, and econometrics. Identify key economic issues and develop relevant analytical frameworks for use in complex litigation, regulatory proceedings, and corporate strategic planning. Work closely with other consultants, analysts and attorneys to develop rigorous economic models to assess liability and damages, prepare testimony, and critique the analyses of opposing experts. Formulate economic and financial models for corporate clientele and design creative solutions using leading-edge analytics and emerging data sources to address clients’ most pressing business challenges. Help companies leverage analytic tools to better manage innovation. Work extensively with merger analyses, utility restructuring, portfolio risk assessment, transfer pricing, and asset valuations. Draft and prepare detailed reports and presentations for use in trials, meetings, and consultations with the Company’s academic affiliates.
Analysis Group fosters a progressive and academically oriented work environment, with an emphasis on teamwork and collaboration across diverse areas of expertise. The candidate must possess:
- A Master’s degree in economics, finance, business administration, public administration, or a related quantitative field (or foreign education equivalent) plus two (2) years of experience in a related occupation applying research and analytical methodologies in business strategy, management, economics, or policy analysis. Alternatively, a PhD in economics, finance, business administration, public administration, or a related quantitative field (or foreign education equivalent) and one (1) year of teaching or experience conducting quantitative or empirical research, developing theoretical or statistical models, and interpreting economic, financial, or policy-relevant data for research or analytical purposes.
Must also possess demonstrated experience in each of the following skills:
- Applying quantitative research and analytical methods in economic, financial, business or policy contexts such as econometrics, regression analysis, forecasting, financial modeling or statistical modeling.
- Conducting qualitative research analysis in economic, financial, business or policy, including case study evaluation, survey design, literature review or synthesis of empirical findings.
- Utilizing statistical or analytical software such as Python, Stata, R, SPSS or SAS.
- Applying principles of economic theory, finance or public policy to structure analyses and interpret results.
- Developing written and oral summaries of analytical work, including preparing research papers, technical memoranda or presentations that detail methods, assumptions, and conclusions to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Communicating complex analytical concepts clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, by tailoring technical findings to different audiences and producing well-organized, data-driven narratives and visual materials.
- Collaborating within academic or professional teams to plan, conduct, and review analytical work, and integrating contributions from multiple disciplines to ensure accuracy and consistency of results.
