Job Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior MEP Electrical Engineer to lead the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical systems for complex building projects. This role will focus on power distribution, lighting design, life safety systems, and coordination within multidisciplinary MEP teams across commercial, healthcare, life sciences, and institutional projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical design for MEP projects from concept through construction administration
- Develop and review electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and low-voltage systems
- Perform load calculations, short circuit analysis, arc flash studies, and equipment sizing
- Coordinate with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and architectural teams
- Prepare construction documents, specifications, and technical reports
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and support commissioning activities
- Mentor junior engineers and designers, providing technical guidance and QA/QC oversight
- Interface with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project success
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements (NEC, IECC, NFPA, etc.)
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 4 –12 years of experience in MEP electrical design
- Strong experience with commercial, healthcare, life sciences, or institutional projects
- Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical analysis software (SKM, ETAP, or similar)
- In-depth knowledge of electrical codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, IEEE)
- Strong understanding of power systems, lighting design, and emergency systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (or working toward licensure)
- Experience with sustainable design and energy-efficient systems (LEED, WELL, or similar)
- Experience with complex, highly technical projects (e.g., labs, data centers, hospitals)
- Strong project management and client-facing skills
