What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Quality Inspector - 2nd Shift position at AMZ Manufacturing?
Purpose of Position: Conduct dimensional inspections, prepare and evaluate metallographic samples, and perform specialized testing, such as hardness measurement, magnetic particle inspection, and visual non-destructive examination, in support of manufacturing activities at the Forge Complex: i.e., forging, vehicle components manufacture, and the track machining line. Performs a full range of tasks, up to and including complex work assignments, inspection, and layouts. Provides general support to the gage lab, receiving inspection, CMM room, internal auditor, and/or Quality Assurance office for document control and records management.
Position Responsibilities:
1. Performs inspection of production parts, components, subassemblies and completed units. Accepts or rejects inspected work in accordance with established procedures.
2. Required to inspect and layout production parts, components, and assembled units for completeness, workmanship, and conformance to drawings and QAR specifications to include first article inspection.
3. Sets up and uses a variety of standard and precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gages, scales, micrometers, surface-plates, thread gages, dial bore and dial snap gages, dial indicators and height gages, gage blocks, radius gages, profilometers, brinell and RC hardness testers.
4. Uses a variety of specialty precision measuring instruments such as sine plates and optical comparators.
5. Operates machines in assigned departments such as shot blast, wet saws, Rockwell hardness testers as required to support assigned work areas.
6. Accepts or rejects inspected work in accordance with established instructions and prepares, executes and maintains various hard copy and electronic inspection records, forms, reports, and record files as required for final, in-process, first piece inspections, PPAPs, and first article inspections.
7. Ensures the proper care and maintenance of inspection equipment.
8. Reads and interprets detailed engineering drawings, blueprints, operation sheets, process sheets, work instructions, etc. to conduct inspection responsibilities.
9. Performs general clean-up work as required and other plant duties as assigned. 10.Familiar with and has working knowledge of all relevant ISO procedures, QARs, QCIs and applicable part specifications.
11.Performs related work and work of lower classified employees as required.
12.Trains lower classified employees on principal duties and responsibilities as required. 13.Cross trains in a specialty area such as CMM, receiving inspection, document control and records management, gage laboratory, and internal audit as determined by direct supervisor.
14.Any and all other duties as assigned by supervisor, in accordance with the labor agreement.
Skills (Pre-requisites:
1. High School Degree, GED equivalent and 2 (two) years of experience in the majority of the above Principal Duties and Responsibilities.
2. Demonstrated competence in all 3 (three) areas of work as assessed by direct supervisor (ex. Forge Shop & Vehicle Components & Track Machine Line areas.)
3. Certified, and continuously maintains certification, as Level II magnetic particle inspection equipment operator –proficient in all 3 (three) magnetic particle inspection areas within 1 (one) year of hire or transfer (Ex. Track Machine Line, Vehicle Components, Forge Shop).
4. Minimum of one year of experience as Grade 6 Inspector or equivalent work experiences which can be readily demonstrated.
5. Ability to work in a team environment in any given assigned area as required.
