American Vanguard has an opportunity for a Corporate Controller in Irvine, California. The Controller is responsible for managing the corporate accounting function with primary responsibilities that include the preparation of 10-Q & 10-K filings, monthly financial consolidation, management of the corporate accounting team, and handling special projects. The Controller will provide monthly review of financial results. They will work closely with executive management to provide required analysis and analytics. Expectation for this position will be to develop and maintain best-in-class processes and procedures for the corporate accounting function.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES
- Manage the preparation of 10-Q and 10-K filings
- Manage the preparation of the monthly consolidated financials using Hyperion
- Oversee the Corporate accounting function
- Liaison with auditors during quarterly reviews, annual audits, and SOX audits
- Oversee the Accounting (AR/AP/GL) teams efforts and provide guidance ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Drive efforts to improve accounting processes and coordinate efforts to introduce technology solutions
- Provide ad hoc reports and deliver special projects as needed
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Good understanding of GAAP concepts
- Strong skills with Hyperion
- Microsoft Office with advanced skills in Excel
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy
- Mindset of need to be “best in class” in relation to both processes and procedures

EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in accounting or finance
- CPA Required
EXPERIENCE
- 3 years experience in a Corporate Controller or similar role
- Minimum three years experience in preparation of 10-Q/10-K filings
- Expertise in Hyperion; Excel
- Experience with QAD or other ERP systems a plus
