Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing legal support to Law Department attorneys and staff in cases and administrative projects. In particular, this position will partner with attorneys in Amtrak’s Labor and Employment group and assist with matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Job Summary
This position is responsible for providing legal support to Law Department attorneys and staff in cases and administrative projects. In particular, this position will partner with attorneys in Amtrak’s Labor and Employment group and assist with matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Essential Functions
- Act as a point of contact for Amtrak’s outside counsel in collecting case materials.
- Monitor and update cases through an internal case management system, noting deadlines and major case updates.
- Assist attorneys in conducting legal research, including gathering and analyzing research data, such as statutes, decisions, legal arguments, codes, and documents.
- Assist attorneys in drafting legal documents, including subpoena responses, preservation memoranda, witness statements, affidavits, legal holds.
- Consult with numerous employees across multiple departments within Amtrak.
- Prepare cases for attorneys by organizing exhibits, finalizing affidavits and legal correspondences, and maintaining documents in paper and electronic filing systems.
- Assist attorneys in investigating facts and laws of cases, and search pertinent sources to determine causes of action and prepare cases.
- Coordinate or manage evidence collection efforts including eDiscovery.
- Assist attorneys in interviewing witnesses and scheduling depositions.
- Other special projects, legal support tasks, and administrative duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience.

- 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Experience working with railroads or other industrial environments with extensive personnel policies, labor agreements, and discipline processes.
- Experience supporting matters before EEOC, OSHA, or similar federal agencies.
- Experience and knowledge in executing eDiscovery collections.
- Skilled in evaluating and responding to discovery and/or subpoenas
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to succeed in a busy environment and prioritize and manage multiple ongoing matters, adapt to changing priorities, and manage a heavy workload
- Ability to work effectively and professionally with internal clients and outside counsel as well as with a variety of personalities in a strong team environment
- Sharp attention to detail
- Excellent organizational, research, investigational and analytical skills to manage large volumes of information and documents
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to work under pressure and meet constant deadlines
- Capable of maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information
