CNC Production Machinist -- ID/OD Operations

Amsted Rail — Petersburg, VA (Brenco Bearing & Amsted Seals Divisions)

Pay Range: $18 -$23, 1.00 differential for nights

• Do you catch the subtle change when a cutting tool goes dull?
• Can you switch programs, dial in parameters, and keep parts within spec?
• Are safety, ergonomics, and environmental stewardship second nature?

• Operate CNC machining lines to complete multiple ID/OD operations on metal workpieces.
• Load the correct program into control units; start, monitor, and adjust as needed.
• Verify alignment and measure features using gauges per the departmental quality plan.
• Inspect for defects; hold tight tolerances to meet customer and Amsted Rail standards.
• Assist with changeovers and perform set-ups on machines, robots, and transfer conveyors.
• Listen for vibration or tool wear; make manual or automatic adjustments to restore capability.
• Troubleshoot part compliance and equipment issues; adjust tooling/cutting tools as required.
• Monitor conveyors, manage material flow, and stage/move work bins via forklift.
• Lift and position components using hoists/cranes; use hand and power tools safely.
• Record production runs in the company computer system and follow documented sequences.
• Perform preventative maintenance and other duties as assigned.

• Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & background screening.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull 10–50 lbs; stand and move throughout the shift.
• Comfort with PPE and adherence to Amsted Rail Health & Safety requirements.
• Mechanical aptitude; prior industrial/manufacturing experience preferred.
