Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Janitor/Cleaner that lives in the area of Astoria, Queens to maintain a safe, sanitary, and welcoming environment for this facility. Start time will be Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 4pm-8:30pm Wednesday and Thursday from 4pm-8pm. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and custodial tasks to ensure that all areas are spotless, organized, and well-maintained. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will contribute significantly to the overall cleanliness and safety of our workspace, creating a positive experience for the students, employees, visitors, and clients alike.
Duties
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal across all designated areas.
- Maintain cleanliness of restrooms by sanitizing fixtures, replenishing supplies, and ensuring hygiene standards are met.
- Conduct floor care activities such as buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing to preserve the appearance of various flooring surfaces.
- Handle industrial cleaning tasks using specialized equipment for large-scale or high-traffic areas.
- Assist with custodial maintenance duties such as window washing, wall cleaning, and light repairs when necessary.
- Follow safety procedures during all cleaning activities to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Support facilities maintenance by reporting any damages or issues requiring repair or further attention.
Skills
- Proven experience in cleaning or janitorial roles with a strong understanding of custodial procedures.
- Knowledge of floor care techniques including buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing.
- Ability to operate commercial cleaning equipment safely and effectively.
- Familiarity with industrial cleaning methods for large or complex environments.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Excellent organizational skills to prioritize tasks efficiently throughout the shift.
