This position reports to the Elmhurst, Illinois location.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Maintain up‐to‐date technical knowledge of products to install, commission, train, and diagnose problems within Microsoft-based equipment.
- Service previously installed equipment.
- Conduct computer networking.
- Interpret and understand wiring diagrams, single phase AC, DC wiring, voltmeter usage, RS 232 and RS 422, Ethernet protocol (TCPIP) and soldering.
- Serve as Help Desk Technician for OEMs/customers.
- In‐House modules testing and repair.
- Complete and adhere to customer safety expectations.
- Visit customers to review applications and collect technical details for Technical File of new or retrofit orders.
- Prepare Service/Time Report and Acceptance report for customer's approval.
- Provide excellent customer service via phone, email, and onsite.
- Assist in product demonstrations at trade shows.
- Assist with shipping and receiving in office when Parts/Inventory Manager is not available.
- Communicate effectively with customers, salespersons, engineers, and other departments.
- Prepare required documentation and tools for customer site visits.
- Conduct emergency travel to customers.
- Make all air, hotel, and auto travel arrangements according to Company travel policies.
- Provide after-hours on-call customer service support by phone and email according to the on-call schedule (routinely 1 week per month).
- Other duties as assigned.
- Previous Field Service experience of 3 years with international experience a plus.
- Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Electrical troubleshooting abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft-based systems.
- Experience in image processing applications or printing and converting is preferred.
- Ability to work independently.
- Possess an up-to-date driver's license with no physical limitations.
- Physical ability to travel by airplanes for extended periods.
- US Passport required for global and nationwide travel up to 75%.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Spanish language skills a plus.
- Frequent lifting/pushing/pulling/moving weight up to 25 lbs.
- Infrequent lifting/pushing/pulling/moving weight up to 50 lbs.
- Frequent crouching, bending, and twisting in a manufacturing industrial environment.
- Ability to travel with a 50-pound tool chest (on wheels), and agility for stooping, climbing, and crawling on and around equipment during service and training.
- Associate's degree in electrical, electronics engineering, or equivalent experience required.
