XMA Corporation is a small, growing manufacturing company located in Manchester, NH that designs high-performance RF and microwave components used in industries like aerospace, defense, quantum, cryogenic, and telecom. We’re a highly technical organization, but we operate as a close-knit team where collaboration, flexibility, and ownership are really important. We’re about 40 employees, offer a 9/80 schedule, and tend to attract people who enjoy wearing multiple hats and having a real impact.
Job Title: Technical Sales Engineer
Reports To: Director of Sales and Marketing
The Technical Sales Engineer plays a key role in driving revenue across XMA's existing product portfolio. This position focuses on supporting customers through the full sales cycle, from application guidance and product selection through order execution, while maintaining strong responsiveness and follow-through.
The role works closely with engineering and operations to ensure customer requirements are clearly understood and translated into deliverable solutions. Success is measured by the ability to convert opportunities into orders, support a broad range of applications, and build lasting customer relationships across our core markets.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Conduct market research and generate product requirements, developing marketing strategies and determining specifications, production timetables, pricing, and time-integrated plans for product introduction.
2. Manage existing product lines and customer relationships while continuously monitoring product sustainability and ROI.
3. Lead product development strategy, appraisal, and redesign from concept through development and manufacturing to market launch.
4. Analyze and determine new and existing customer needs, current market trends, and potential partnerships from an ROI perspective.
5. Assess current competitor offerings and seek opportunities for differentiation.
6. Translate product strategy into detailed requirements for prototype construction and final product development with the engineering and operations teams.
7. Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, marketing, and sales teams on the development, QA, and release of products, balancing resources to ensure success across the organization.
8. Drive the product and business planning process across cross-functional teams.
9. Bring new products to market by analyzing proposed product requirements and development programs, preparing ROI analyses, and establishing time schedules with engineering and manufacturing.
10. Serve as a trusted technical advisor to customers throughout the sales cycle, from product selection through implementation.
11. Deliver compelling technical presentations, demonstrations, and product guidance to internal and external stakeholders.
12. Provide hands-on support for a wide range of strategic key accounts across the country.
13. All other duties as assigned.

POSITION DETAILS
Supervisory Responsibility This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities; however, the incumbent must build and maintain effective, credible relationships with key stakeholders across all areas of the business. Effective communication is essential.
Work Environment Professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and filing systems.
Physical Demands Largely sedentary. Regularly required to talk or hear; frequently required to stand, walk, use hands, and reach. Some filing is required, including lifting files and opening filing cabinets.
Hours of Work Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required. XMA operates on a 9/80 schedule: nine hours Monday through Thursday, eight hours on Friday, with every other Friday off.
Travel Domestic and international travel up to 30-50% of the time, depending on business needs.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a field tied to the product's sector, and a minimum of 2-3 years of experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or customer-facing engineering roles; or seven or more years of related experience and training, including project management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
■ Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, primarily Excel (including lookup functions and PivotTables).
■ Proficiency using Infor CloudSuite Industrial (SyteLine) is desired.
■ Willingness to attain professional designations and pursue continuing education.
■ Demonstrated interest in emerging technologies, including quantum computing or advanced physics-based applications, is a plus.
