About The Role
Ampere Computing is growing and we’re seeking dynamic candidates for a firmware engineering role. The role will require working across all aspects of Firmware for Ampere’s SOC products. You will ensure Ampere products deliver the highest quality in all facets of firmware design, working both with internal cross-functional teams, external partners and customers, and the open-source community.

The full base pay range for this role is between $182,000 and $273,000, except in the San Francisco Bay Area where the range is between $195,000 and $292,000.

About The Role
Ampere Computing is growing and we’re seeking dynamic candidates for a firmware engineering role. The role will require working across all aspects of Firmware for Ampere’s SOC products. You will ensure Ampere products deliver the highest quality in all facets of firmware design, working both with internal cross-functional teams, external partners and customers, and the open-source community.
What You’ll Achieve
- Develop software at all levels of the stack, from Ampere’s proprietary low-level firmware to mid-level firmware implementations of EDK2 and AptioV, and then finally up to kernel drivers and test applications.
- Work with Ampere Hardware and Software Architects to improve our SOC designs.
- Work with HW design teams to bring up Pre-Silicon software support on HW emulation systems.
- Interact with the open-source community to promote and enable the software ecosystem on Ampere platforms through ARM architectural forums and upstream contributions.
- Debug, root cause, and resolve SW bugs across multiple subsystems (firmware/OS) and drive them to a resolution.
- Support multiple platforms and projects for internal and external customers.
- Work with ODMs to implement FW features in SoC Reference Platforms.
- Interact with Field Application Engineers to address customer issues.
- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related technical field & 8 years of related experience; or Master's degree & 6 years
- Minimum of 3 years' experience with strong and demonstrable skill in C.
- Multi-threaded programming experience.
- Experience with Assembly and direct hardware access.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and testing skills. Demonstrated ability using those skills to resolve issues spanning multiple subsystems
- Proven ability to drive features from requirements to product
- Intimate knowledge of software development process methodology to produce sustainable and maintainable code
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability)
- Knowledge of hardware interfaces such as DDR4/5, PCIe, SPI, or I2C
- Knowledge of industry standard initiatives such as ACPI, SMM, or UEFI
- Strong security, crypto, and secure boot knowledge.
- Experience with RTOS.
- Experience with SCM, GIT, Jenkins, BugZilla, and JIRA.
- Experience with Kconfig, DeviceTree, and CMake.
