Job Summary
Seeking an experienced Linux System Engineer to support a large-scale data center and server migration initiative involving physical servers, VMware ESXi hosts, virtual machines, storage systems, and Linux infrastructure. The role focuses on migration planning, execution, automation, troubleshooting, virtualization, storage networking, and infrastructure modernization with minimal downtime.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support end-to-end server and data center migration activities.
Migrate physical servers, ESXi hosts, and virtual machines between data centers.
Manage VMware ESXi/vSphere Environments Including
vMotion.
Storage vMotion.
DRS.
HA.
Cross-site VM migrations.
Configure And Troubleshoot ISCSI Storage Networks
Multipathing.
CHAP authentication.
Jumbo frames.
Storage connectivity/performance.
Manage Linux LVM Activities
VG/LV management.
vgexport/vgimport.
Snapshot migrations.
Thin provisioning.
Backup/restore.
Develop automation and migration tooling using Bash/Python.
Create migration runbooks, rollback plans, and validation procedures.
Support CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code workflows.
Collaborate with engineering and support teams during migration phases.
Monitor and optimize Linux system performance and reliability.
Ensure infrastructure security and compliance standards.
Required Skills And Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Science or related field.
4 years of relevant Linux systems engineering experience.
Strong Experience With Large-scale Migration Projects
