Job Summary

The Field Computer Technician will be responsible for providing onsite technical support and repair services for laptops, desktops, and related computer peripherals throughout the assigned metro and surrounding areas.

The technician will receive service requests, perform hardware repairs, document service activities, and close service tickets in real time using a company-provided phone.

Key Responsibilities

• Repair laptops and desktop computers in the assigned metro and surrounding areas.
• Replace hard drives, motherboards, keyboards, and other computer components.
• Perform whole-unit swaps when required.
• Repair or replace PC peripherals.
• Diagnose and resolve basic/non-complex hardware and software issues.
• Close service tickets in real time in the Call Management system using a company-provided phone.
• Maintain accurate real-time reporting of time, location, and service activities.
• Travel extensively to customer locations as required.
• Complete required product training and certifications.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• A Certification.
• 1 year of hands-on experience with laptop and desktop break-fix.
• Computer hardware repair field experience.
• Experience diagnosing laptops and PCs.
• General knowledge of laptop/desktop hardware and software.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft applications.
• Ability to resolve basic/non-complex technical problems.
• Reliable personal vehicle.
• Valid car insurance.
• Ability to travel 2 to 3 hours to customer locations when required.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be eligible to work in the US.
• Must be able to pass required drug and background screening.
• Must be able to complete required product training.
• Client and/or governmental clearance may be required.
• Police or criminal background verification clearance may be required.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Computer-building experience.
• Recent motherboard replacement experience.
• Recent LCD replacement experience.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing Dell laptops and PCs.
  
  

Work Requirements

• Weekly mileage: 250-350 miles.
• Candidates are not paid for driving to and from work.
• Mileage incurred during the workday while traveling to service locations is reimbursed according to the applicable mileage policy.
• Vaccination is not required.
• Reliable computer and high-speed internet connection at home required.
• Working printer at home required.
• Business-casual dress code required.
• Must be willing to work beyond the planned shift when necessary, including short-notice overtime.
  
  

Certification Requirement

• Computer certification is required for this position. Certifications are provided at no cost to the candidate and must be completed after selection, using the candidate's own computer at home.
• Selected candidates will be given approximately 3 business days to complete the required certifications. Evidence of certification must be submitted before a job offer is extended.
• Candidates who do not already hold the required A Certification will have 90 days after their start date to obtain the certification, or may be subject to termination.
