What are the responsibilities and job description for the Event Design Associate position at Ampa Events?
Event Design Associate
Designed for Emerging Interior Design Talent
Full-Time | In-Person | Henrico, VA
Salary Range: $50,000-$55,000/yr
Who We Are
We are an event design company obsessed with one thing: creating experiences that people never forget. From intimate gatherings in historic venues to large-scale productions in convention centers and lavish hotels, we bring physical spaces to life in ways that move people. Our work is equal parts art and strategy, and we're looking for someone who gets that.
The Opportunity
This is not a traditional sales role, and it's not a traditional design role. It's both, and that's what makes it special. We're looking for a newly minted interior designer (or someone with a comparable creative background) who is naturally outgoing, energized by connecting with people, and excited by the idea that their design skills can open doors, win clients, and shape unforgettable events.
If you've ever looked at a room and immediately imagined what it could become, this is the job for you.
What You'll Do
Design
- Translate client visions into stunning event concepts — rooms, themes, lounge environments, and floor plans that are both functional and breathtaking
- Produce renderings, 2D floor plans, and 3D visualizations to bring proposals to life before a single piece of furniture is moved
- Design custom elements including branded stage sets, decorative lighting schemes, lounge furniture arrangements, linen selections, and thematic décor
- Collaborate with our operations team to ensure every design translates flawlessly from concept to installation

- Actively pursue networking opportunities through industry associations and events
- Draft proposals and contracts using our sales and inventory management system
- Follow up with clients post-event to ensure satisfaction and cultivate long-term relationships
Event Execution
- Oversee installation of client events and provide on-site supervision as needed
- Coordinate with internal operations and administrative staff to deliver seamless client experiences
- Be present and flexible — great events happen on evenings and weekends, and you'll be part of making that happen
Digital & Marketing (a plus)
- Contribute to our social media presence by capturing and sharing the beauty of our events
- Help position our brand across digital platforms
