The Immigration Manager will lead and manage complex immigration and compliance programs supporting a large population of inpats and expats. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance across federal, state, and international requirements, owning the I-9 program, and partnering cross-functionally to maintain audit readiness and policy integrity. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in navigating immigration processes and HR compliance frameworks.
Strategic Immigration Program Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive immigration strategy aligned with organizational goals and workforce planning.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all immigration matters, including H-1B, O-1, L-1, STEM OPT, green card, and dependent filings.
- Partner with external immigration counsel to manage case strategy, timelines, and documentation.
- Provide strategic guidance to executive staff and managers on immigration processes, risks, and compliance requirements.
- Monitor and analyze immigration trends and regulatory changes to inform leadership and update policies proactively.
Executive & Legal Interface
- Collaborate with executive leadership and general counsel on immigration-related risk management, compliance, and strategic workforce planning.
- Prepare and present immigration program updates, KPIs, and compliance reports to senior leadership.
- Advise on complex cases and escalations requiring legal interpretation or executive decision-making.
I-9 Program Ownership
- Oversee I-9 completion, reverifications, document retention, and internal audits.
- Ensure compliance with federal regulations and maintain 100% accuracy in records.
- Conduct periodic training and refreshers for HR and hiring managers on I-9 procedures.
Compliance & Audit Readiness
- Partner with Security and other stakeholders to support audit readiness for People processes, data, reporting, and documentation.
- Maintain an annual People compliance calendar including required training, policy reviews, and handbook updates.
- Monitor federal and state regulatory changes and recommend updates to policies, practices, and onboarding materials.
Policy & Handbook Management of Immigration related items
- Lead handbook audits, policy publishing, and signature tracking to ensure 100% completion.
- Facilitate internal workshops and refreshers on compliance topics such as I-9, handbook, and code of conduct.
- Support employee relations partners with policy enforcement documentation and escalations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
- 7 years of experience in immigration and compliance, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration laws and employment eligibility verification; global immigration experience preferred.
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic programs and influence senior stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work cross-functionally.
- SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR is desired.
- I-9 and E-Verify Certification are preferred.
- Immigration Law or Paralegal Certification is a plus.
