Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ health status by observing vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; report any concerns promptly
- Support clients with medication administration according to care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations for privacy and confidentiality
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Utilize equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident lifts safely to transfer clients with mobility challenges
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks including cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards and care plans
- Provide emotional support and companionship to promote mental well-being
- Collaborate with nursing staff, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Assist in managing complex conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease through specialized memory care techniques
- Participate in ongoing training related to first aid, CPR, assisted living procedures, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism
Qualifications
- Prior experience in home health, assisted living, nursing homes, or group home settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to monitor vital signs effectively
- Certification in CPR and First Aid required; additional certifications such as HIPAA compliance are advantageous
- Experience working with people with disabilities, developmental disabilities, autism, or dementia enhances your ability to provide tailored support
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts when necessary
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with clients, families, and healthcare teams
- Demonstrated reliability, compassion, patience, and a positive attitude towards caregiving roles
- Willingness to undergo background checks and adhere to all safety protocols
