Foster Youth Counselor - Community Based (Hybrid)

Location: San Jose, CA | Schedule: Full-Time | Salary: $73,000-$85,000 DOE

We're hiring an associate clinician for a Foster Youth Counselor to work with youth and adolescents in foster care or at risk of out-of-home placement. This is a community-based, hybrid role for a clinician who is deeply experienced in trauma-informed care and motivated to provide therapy in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

You'll work directly with youth who have high levels of trauma—many involved in the juvenile justice or foster care systems—and serve as a vital support in coordinating care across case managers, social workers, schools, psychiatrists, and caregivers. This role offers flexibility and autonomy, as you schedule your own clients and manage your caseload.

What You'll Do:

• Provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive individual and family therapy

• Coordinate care with case managers, schools, county agencies, psychiatrists, and family members

• Participate in and lead Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings

• Manage your own schedule and organize client sessions geographically within Santa Clara County

• Maintain timely clinical documentation, assessments, and treatment plans

• Deliver case management and attend required supervision, training, and team meetings

• Maintain 50% billable productivity (face-to-face, case management, documentation)

• Spend the remaining 50% of your time on travel, supervision, training, and team collaboration

What You Bring:

• Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field

• Registered with the California BBS or Board of Psychology

• Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation (mileage reimbursed at federal rate)

• Experience working with foster youth, youth in the system, or high-needs populations

• Knowledge of trauma-informed modalities (CBT, DBT, ACT), DSM-5, and mandated reporting laws

• Preferred: Familiarity with Department of Social Services, county mental health systems, and other public agencies

• Bilingual skills (Spanish, Mandarin, Vietnamese) a plus
