What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Engineer position at AMI Industries, Inc?
Primary Purpose of the Job: Designs and installs quality control process sampling systems, procedures, and statistical techniques which require a great depth of knowledge and the application of sophisticated measurement systems. Designs specific testing systems, including equipment and devices (gauging). Train hourly and exempt staff in quality applications. Assist in APQP process.
Specific Duties:
- Analyzes production and quality trend rates to identify and solve problems without requiring shutdown or production reduction.
- Reviews analysis and statistical data prepared by others for procedural accuracy and theoretical correctness.
- Formulates and recommends policy.
- Performs such individual assignments as supervisor and superiors may direct; ensures adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
- APQP duties as follows:
- Develop Quality Systems
- Customer interface for quality issues
- Gauging
- Customer submissions
- APQP checklists and supporting documentation
- PPAP book.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Must carry out duties per IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001 requirements.
Required Training, Knowledge and Experience:
- A degree in engineering or related field and some production or manufacturing experience.
- Prefer professional accreditation as a quality engineer by an appropriate authority.
- Has 3 or more years of experience as a Quality Engineer.
Critical Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds and frequently carries up to 30 pounds.
- Maneuvers in, around, under, and about factory and/or laboratory equipment on a regular and continuous basis.
- Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
- Works at telephone answering equipment, design equipment, and at a PC.
- Works within an automotive components manufacturing, office, and laboratory setting and is exposed to heat, cold, wet, and fumes/chemicals.
- Regularly travels to supplier and customer sites.
Salary is based on experience.
