About the Opportunity
As an Operating Room Registered Nurse, you will provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care throughout the surgical experience. Working closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and interdisciplinary care teams, you'll help ensure safe, efficient surgical procedures while delivering outstanding patient-centered care.
Schedule
- Monday-Friday 7am-3:30pm
- Intermittent On-call (14-17 times a month) on evenings, nights, weekends and holidays as needed
What You'll Do
- Provide professional nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures
- Assess patients and develop individualized perioperative care plans
- Verify patient identity, surgical site, procedure, and informed consent
- Prepare operating rooms with appropriate instruments, supplies, medications, and equipment
- Maintain sterile technique and infection prevention standards throughout procedures
- Assist with patient positioning, skin preparation, and intraoperative care
- Monitor patient safety and advocate for patients during surgical procedures
- Perform instrument, sponge, and sharps counts according to established protocols
- Recognize and respond appropriately to surgical emergencies and changes in patient condition
- Ensure proper handling and documentation of surgical specimens
- Accurately document perioperative assessments, interventions, and patient outcomes
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, surgical technologists, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and regulatory compliance activities
- Educate patients and families regarding perioperative care and recovery, as appropriate
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program
- Successful completion of the NCLEX-RN
- Current, active, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in at least one U.S. state, territory, or commonwealth
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, if required by the facility
- Minimum 23 years of recent acute care hospital Operating Room experience
- Demonstrated experience scrubbing and circulating in the operating room
- Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) certification (preferred)
