POSITION TITLE: Physical Education Teacher Amesbury Middle SchoolSUPERVISOR: Building Principal SALARY RANGE: Per Teacher ContractNature of work: The successful candidate should be able to encourage personal growth, reflection and enjoyment in exercising among students. An effective PE Teacher will be attentive and responsive to themes in students' interests, while helping students broaden their enjoyment, appreciation, and performance of sports and exercise through a variety of PE activities.Job Description: Demonstrate a thorough knowledge and competence of subject matter associated with teaching assignment.Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.Prepare lessons for all content areas.Integrate technology into lessons to support student achievement. Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the school.Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.Maintain accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, School Committee Policy and administrative regulations.Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and School Committee policy.Accept a share of responsibility for supervising and monitoring both formal and informal non-classroom activities.Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.Attend staff meetings, and serve on committees as required.Collaborate with other teachers and paraprofessionals as appropriate and necessary.
