Key Responsibilities
- Fuel, grease, and service heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and support equipment
- Perform daily inspections and identify maintenance or safety issues
- Conduct preventative maintenance and minor mechanical repairs
- Assist mechanics with troubleshooting and equipment repairs
- Monitor and maintain fluid levels (engine oil, hydraulic, coolant, etc.)
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection logs, and reports
- Operate service trucks and maintain tools and equipment in a clean, safe condition
- Follow all Ames Construction safety policies and jobsite procedures
- 2 years of experience as an oiler, mechanic, or heavy equipment technician
- Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction equipment and maintenance practices
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred)
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and physical
This position is associated with work performed under agreements with Operating Engineers Local 12.

- CDL with tanker and/or hazmat endorsements
- Experience with CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, or similar equipment
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Experience working on heavy civil, mining, or large infrastructure projects
- Outdoor construction setting in varying weather conditions
- Extended hours, including overtime, weekends, and possible night work
- Physically demanding role requiring lifting, climbing, and prolonged standing
