Ames High School is seeking a Part-Time Administrative Assistant. This position will start in August 2026.

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-12:30pm, 9.5 month work agreement

Summary

Under the direct supervision of the High School Principal, this position serves Ames High School by working closely and communicating with other personnel, students, parents and the public.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

• Works and communicates with teachers and other personnel, students, parents and the public.
• Handles incoming telephone calls and takes messages as appropriate.
• Maintains office filing system.
• Assists in areas of scheduling to include counselors, 504s, etc.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior Administrative Assistant experience preferred.

• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
• Demonstrated discretion in handling confidential information and a high standard of integrity and ethical conduct.
• Organization with strong attention to detail; able to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions, work independently with minimal supervision, and exercise sound judgment.
• Committed to providing high-quality service and contributing to a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.
• Reliable and punctual with consistent attendance.

Compensation: $16.75 per hour
