Veterinary Technicians are the vital force in any veterinary hospital. We are looking for an experienced technician that knows the veterinary field and requirements to be successful on a daily basis. Our technicians do many daily tasks, such as surgery assisting, phlebotomy, triaging cases, radiology, and pharmacology. Other routine duties may include general upkeep of the hospital, cleaning cages, or providing care before and after many medical procedures. Team collaboration and support of one another in various positions throughout the hospital. Various duties and skills of our Veterinary Technicians:
- Must enjoy working with dogs and cats...and people too!
- Communicate with clients via phone conversations, emails and text messages.
- Monitor and care for animals before and after procedures alongside a doctor assigned to that patient.
- Understands and performs safe, humane patient restraint to maintain the safety of oneself, one’s colleagues, and the patients.
- Maintain and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
- Clean and disinfect cages, kennels, and the treatment area.
- Assist with admits and discharging of patients.
- Moving animals and hold or restrain them during testing and other procedures.
- Help provide emergency first aid to sick or injured animals.
- Do routine tests, such as radiology and laboratory services.
- Administering medication.
- Preparing animals for surgery.
- Performing general administrative duties.
- Providing general nursing care.
- Examining animals and checking vitals in preparation for the Veterinarian.
- A devoted team player who thrives in a collaborative environment.
- Remain calm in a busy environment.
- Administer subcutaneous, intravenous, and intramuscular injections,
- Able to lift over 50lbs with the assistance of another staff member.
